Awesome Performance
People say that seeing is believing... or that picture tell a thousand words. Well, another Facebook friend sent me this link to a YouTube video. Quite an amazing performance that summarizes my experience with Christ (well, not 100%, but you'll get the point).. merry Christmas!
You Made This Possible Part III [Christmas Gifts]
The children's home in Chiang Rai allowed us to have a special, early Christmas celebration. We were able to hand out gifts provided & funded by supporters such as yourselves. We were able to hand out paints, markers, candies, clothing, and some toys. Thank you for making this possible! Everybody were very excited, and it was nice to see them playing until the sun went down.
Today's Visitor
Few days ago I wrote about the little (!?) spider that came to join us in the shower. Today, as we were working in the house/room we heard a knock on the door... but something was different. See, we had the main door opened but the screen door closed, and it just sounded a litttle different than a simple knock... almost like some sandpaper hitting the door... we all looked up... then froze like a frog staired by a snake... yup... the visitor looked just like this guy.
Yikest! You konw, snake in a cage is one thing, just outside your door is yet another story...!
If you see his brother in the Washington D.C. Zoo, please say hi :-)

You Made This Possible Part II [Helping Out With Meals]
Several days ago we mention about how the Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night in Maryland (Thanks Chrissy!) has helped OneRipple.org to raise enough funds to provide roughly a week worth of meals for a children's home in Thailand. As part of the effort to help out with meals, we had the privilege of cooking a "special" treat for the children. We decided to cook chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and apple crisp for dessert. Sounds ok right?
Well, they had never eaten mashed potatoes before, so as they were helping us make it, they were looking at it with the same look we had when we were looking at the crickets at the night market... finally one brave soul asked... "Do you eat that !?".
It turned out ok at the end though, some people ate 3 servings, some just barely finished 1... but it was special for them... in many different ways...THANK YOU for partnering with us to make this possible!!!
You Made This Possible [Birthday Celebration]
Once a month, the River of Life Children's Home celebrates the children's birthdays who were born that month. We were able to contribute to this month's celebration by planning and leading the children to some fun games! I wanted to post some pictures from the birthday celebration, and THANK YOU for partnering with us to make this possible.
Catch of the Day & Amazing Thailand (Part 2)
Well, I missed some photos so I'm putting them here. One thing that we noticed being here is that safety concerns is way on the bottom of totem pole... People don't use bike helmets, ride the bike with 3 ~ 4 people, often with toddlers, etc... I guess safety concern and regulations are something that comes after you reach some sort of economic standard ???
Anyway, here's the photos I forgot to put up last time.
What did I say about safety standards? Be hold... the lawnmower...also translates to leg chopping machine :-)
Looks like a baby hawk to me... can anyone help? The kids caught it on the back rice field with a net. Of course the bird didn't go without a fight. One kid got a good scratch on the face and another one got bit... geesh..
Itsy bitsy spider !? This guy came to join in the shower room, as wide as a bar of soap. I saw it hiding behind the conditioner bottle while I was bathing my kids... didn't tell them until after the shower was over. My daughter would have freaked out and my son would have tried to play with it!!!
Amazing Thailand
This is the catch phrase the Thai Tourism Authority has been using. I took some pictures while I was down in Bangkok last weekend that made me say... yup... amazing.
1) The elephant building... who ever designed it must have had too much fun designing this building.... and that there is no code violation, now that's amazing.
2) Electrifying...I know it's hard to tell, but it's a picture of an street overpass. You can easily reach out and grab all those nice wires as you go up on the stairs... like a 2 year old child piggy backing on your back.
3) Lost in translation (1) The government division called "Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division"... are you preventing it or committing it??
4) Lost in translation (2) I don't know what went wrong... a nice, very elegant Jewelry store in a very very expensive (I assume... I didn't dare to ask) hotel.
Cheers - Sergio
Bonus Rounds.. Perhaps only in some space community will get this. I was invited to a satellite conference in Bangkok totally by being at the right place , at the right time. Next to the stage there was a stand with logos of various Thai government/pseudo-government organization sponsoring the event. I noticed that they are using an US satellite for their logo... can you tell which satellite it is ? [/]
